It’s not just about dusty tomes, or how you got your Roman nose.
It’s not just about the Time Team, or how the Vikings were really quite mean
It’s not just about invaders gone, or who killed who to get the throne
In ancient times they did some stuff, which even now does inspire us,
Their prayers and their rites we emulate (although we’re not always accurate)
We might honour those of the past by holding up an ale filled glass
Touch their hands across the years, although they would find us very weird
